Shopify app development

The part of the store you cannot buy off the shelf

When an app from the store almost does what you need, or does it for a monthly fee that adds up, a custom one is often the better deal. I build them on Shopify Functions, checkout and post-purchase extensions, and small backends on Cloudflare Workers: no servers to maintain, and the store keeps working when the app is quiet.

What you get

  • Shopify Functions: discounts, cart transforms, delivery and payment customisation
  • Checkout UI and post-purchase extensions, deployed per market
  • Embedded admin apps with managed install and token exchange, no legacy flows
  • Integrations: product sync between stores, warehouse export, translation, AI search

HEALTH BARSupplements, DTC and B2B, Germany

Five custom apps that a store this size normally rents

The theme is the visible part. Behind it: a post-purchase offer added to the same order in one click, cart milestone rewards past free shipping on Shopify Functions, a store finder fed automatically from B2B orders, and a translation app that replaced Transcy and keeps every language current.

  • Post-purchase upsell with funnels: a trigger, an offer, one click, same order
  • Cart milestones: a free gift or a discounted product once the cart clears a set amount
  • Translation app on Cloudflare Workers with an approval flow, built to replace a paid subscription

BREKKYFood, DTC, Germany

A custom theme and three apps around one breakfast brand

Three years on the same store, from the first section in 2023 to an AI answer search in 2026. The theme is built section by section, and the parts Shopify does not sell as an app are custom: a mix-and-match bundle with per-cell discounts on Shopify Functions, a search backend on a Cloudflare Worker, and the checkout extensions.

  • Mega Bundle: mix & match with per-cell discounts, a cart transform folds the set into one line
  • Answer search: the shopper asks a question, the store answers with products
  • Countdown, cross-selling, recipes and a variant picker built for the brand, not a template

VeneeraDental, DTC, five markets

One theme for five countries, checkout extensions for nine

The same theme runs veneera.de, .com, .nl, .it and .es. Before/after banners, tabs, cards, show-more text and custom headings are sections shared across markets. The checkout extension app is deployed per market: br, de, eu, fr, it, nl, uk, us and the shared one.

  • Before/after banner and slider for a visual product
  • Sections shared by five storefronts, configured per market
  • Nine checkout extension deployments from one repository

Questions

Do you build public App Store apps?

My apps are custom, installed on one store or one company’s stores. One of them is being prepared for the App Store review now, so the process is familiar.

Where does the app run?

On Cloudflare Workers by default: it is fast everywhere, costs close to nothing at store scale, and I hand you the account. Functions run inside Shopify itself.
